2013 started with Anime Los Angeles, with its pool deck and tons of cosplayers on the scene. ALA was also the convention where Plastic Joint held its annual Tokusatsu panel, which went solid. Not much I can say, since not much has changed. Every year has been same or similar for the most part, cosplay and just chill (no weather pun here). If you went to ALA, hopefully your experience was a good one.

ReactorCon 2012: Gallery of ‘Damn, I’m stuffed’
ReactorCon 2012 kicked off on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, at Frank and Sons Collectibles. The biggest attraction for ReactorCon was the fact that it was FREE! No badge, not even wrist band, it was free entry. For first-time convention, it was decent enough event. They had respectable amount of guests, such as Jimmy Hart (who packed up just as I got there around 1PM) and Johnny Young Bosch. However, it was still a small-size event, as they had only handful of artist tables and couple of dealers present at the convention. To be fair though, this was held in a special area in Frank and Sons, where they hold guest autographs. Considering that, you can’t expect too much from this. However, it did just enough to pique the curiosity of by-passers around the area, so hopefully the second year will be much better. One request I do want to make, and hopefully this does happen next year: Get out of Frank and Sons. It may have worked for the first year, but I’ll be damned if I have to spend 20 minutes finding parking spot year after year.
AX Live Picnic 2012: Gallery of QUACK!
I lost count how many times me and Deb made the space duck joke.
AX Live hosted a little get-together of cosplay event at Miles Regional Square Park in Fountain Valley (which was close to Deb’s area). What we encountered there were familiar faces, DOGGIES! and of course, lots of giveaways. I didn’t take a lot of pictures, but let’s just say I hope they hold this event again next year.
Q Pop Tokusatsu 2012: Gallery of RAAAAWWWRR!!
Right after Comikaze, me and Deb headed out to Little Tokyo for some dinner (with Cat & Harris. Hey Deb, do we call them Carris or Hat?). After a bowl of Shinsengumi ramen, we headed to Q Pop Tokusatsu Gallery event, where various artist showcased tokusatsu-related artworks.
Oh, and we had some toku cosplayers there
and guys from Toku Access
and pictures, lots of pictures.
Comikaze 2012: Gallery of EXCELSIOR!
Me and Deb went to Comikaze Expo 2012 for Saturday only, because we had things to do on Sunday. Still, we went, and were quite impressed with how big it was. Despite attending one day, I took decent amount of pictures while roaming around the convention.
Power Morphicon 2012: The Gallery of MEGA MEGA MEGAFORCE OOOOH YEEEAAAH!
Honestly, I never expected Power Morphicon to be THIS exciting. Sure, I was expecting some great times, but I think this year far exceeded my expectation in more ways than one. With that said, here are the pics I took from Power Morphicon 2012. Here’s to the next Morphicon (and I promise I’ll bring better costumes next time – Stan)
SDCC 2012: Gallery of YES! YES! YES!
Just…unbelievable event this has been. So many good experiences and celebrities we’ve met, including Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson/Lloyd Boner (Cabana podcast joke right there). Thank you, Comic-Con! Hopefully we’ll be there again next year.
Anime Expo 2012: Gallery of VROOOOOOM
This year’s Anime Expo was more or less ‘controversial’, because it was held at same time as X-Game. This was also the year I only attended Saturday and Sunday, because I had work on Friday and Monday. Regardless, I can safely say I was there and I took some pictures.
(Although, I must say, I was a bit disappointed because I thought I would be close to vert ramp competition. But instead, I got rally drift racing. Bummer.)
For my complete opinion about this year’s Anime Expo, tune into Plasticast.
