Plastic Joint once again brings you the best coverage of San Diego Comic-Con. The Battle rages forward as the Autobots battle the evil Dececpticons. With Transformers Prime and Transformers Fall of Cybertron, Hasbro has a lot of announcements to make and we’ll be here to bring it to you first.
The panel starts with a Q and A session due to technical difficulties in the rooms. This is a running theme for all the panels since every panel we’ve been to this year had some mild to major technical difficulties.
One of the questions ask is the whereabouts of Breakdown. They have no photos of him, so they will not show him. This cause much anger among the fans.
Stan had a question and got a very good response: The Prime First editions where announced for a fall 2012 re-release as a TRU exclusive. It was part of the presentation, but due to technical difficulties, they let it out early.
After much hassle, the presentation started. They began by showing off all the stuff available at Universal Studios for the ride such as the exclusive Deluxe Evac figure. Then they moved on to Rescue Bots and their 2013 gimmick: Energize. All the characters will have a Transparent weapon attached to them. Kre-O was up next and they showed off the combiners coming soon: Devastator, Predaking, Superion and Bruticus.
We then went to Prime RID afterwords. They began with Voyagers Wave 4: Thundertron and Ultra Magnus. They also announced the first figure in Wave 5: Skyquake.
Legions where up next. 3 new repaints where shown: Fallback (a repaint of Breakdown), Tailgate (a repaint of Cliffjumper) and Knock-Out.
We then headed to the exclusives, the first one was the Japanese Jetwing Optimus Prime is getting a release in the US (Via Amazon.com), Masterpiece Thundercracker (a TRU Exclusive) and the G2 colors Fall of Cybertron Bruticus (Amazon.com/ BBTS exclusive).
We then go to the Prime first editions. The DVD entertainment pack was shown, then the Voyager Prime and Bulkhead. We then see the deluxes: Arcee, Starscream, Vehicon and a mystery slot. Bee, Cliff and Zombie Terrorcon Cliff where considered, but Terrorcon Cliff was the winner.
In a stunning announcement, they also announced another TRU exclusive line: the china imports. The packaging will bare Chinese logos and all. They are due in the fall. The breakdown is as followed:
Legion: Bluestreak, Hoist, Thundercracker, Motormaster, Sandstorm, Deadend, Brawl and Laserbeak.
Deluxe class: Springer, Swerve, Clffjumper and Wheelie.
Voyager class: Powerdive, Megatron and Hot Spot.
they also announced the chinese Year of the Dragon Ultimate Jetwing Optimus is coming to the US as part of this line too.
a BBTS exclusive series was announced: Prime Dark Energon. they are 4 Deluxes and 2 voyagers announced so far. The gimmick with the figures is that they are done with transparent plastic. We then went to Generations. They announce some remolds of the Bruticus figures: Impactor (retool of Onslaught), Roadbuster (retool of Swindle), Whirl (retool of Vortex), Twin Twist (retool of Brawl), Topspin (retool of Blast Off). All of them combine to make Ruination.
Then they announced 2 new two-packs: Eject and Ramhorn, and Rewind and Sundor. This lead to the announcement of Blaster. He’s a retool of voyager Soundwave and Soundblaster. They then moved on to talk about the next voyager: Grimlock. He’s a beast. With light up mouth and chest.
They ended the panel by showing off a new collaboration figure with the band Linkin Park. An all gold G1 Soundwave with Ratbat, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw and Ravage. It will bare a special Linkin Park logo on it. It will be in a specialize package, with a certificate of authenticity.
