Wondercon 2013: The Gallery of Nintendonia
Even though we only went for Sunday (due to some circumstances), we managed to do a lot at Wondercon. Quite possibly, the biggest highlight was the Nintendo booth, coming across few tokusatsu fans, and meeting voice actor Dino Andrade. That’s the type of con this can be, in 5 hours we’ve done a lot more than what we can do at some other cons in 1 day. I wish we were able to attend whole weekend, so we could do more. But we deal with what we can I suppose.
Enjoy.
Cherry Blossom @ Balboa 2013 – The Gallery of Pretty in Pink
This year’s cherry blossom came in at unexpected pace. What was projected as 3-week space turned into 2-week space, and the blossoming pattern was very bipolar. Still, the area closer to the entrance bloomed beautifully, and it was worth a trip down there.
And yes, we took pictures. I wish more people were at the park, but it seems there were couple more events happening around that weekend, so I suppose that made things a bit more complicated than usual.
Anime Los Angeles 2013: The gallery of HOLA GROUCHO STYLE!
2013 started with Anime Los Angeles, with its pool deck and tons of cosplayers on the scene. ALA was also the convention where Plastic Joint held its annual Tokusatsu panel, which went solid. Not much I can say, since not much has changed. Every year has been same or similar for the most part, cosplay and just chill (no weather pun here). If you went to ALA, hopefully your experience was a good one.
ReactorCon 2012: Gallery of ‘Damn, I’m stuffed’
ReactorCon 2012 kicked off on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, at Frank and Sons Collectibles. The biggest attraction for ReactorCon was the fact that it was FREE! No badge, not even wrist band, it was free entry. For first-time convention, it was decent enough event. They had respectable amount of guests, such as Jimmy Hart (who packed up just as I got there around 1PM) and Johnny Young Bosch. However, it was still a small-size event, as they had only handful of artist tables and couple of dealers present at the convention. To be fair though, this was held in a special area in Frank and Sons, where they hold guest autographs. Considering that, you can’t expect too much from this. However, it did just enough to pique the curiosity of by-passers around the area, so hopefully the second year will be much better. One request I do want to make, and hopefully this does happen next year: Get out of Frank and Sons. It may have worked for the first year, but I’ll be damned if I have to spend 20 minutes finding parking spot year after year.
PMX 2012: Dante Basco bonus questions
Dante Basco, best known for his roles such as Rufio (Hook) and Prince Zuko (Avatar the Last Airbender), was at Pacific Media Expo as their Guest of Honor. He was at PMX to promote his new movie Hang Loose, as well as to interact with his fans that converged in one place to see him.
This video is of Dante answering my own personal questions. The last question, that’s one hell of a kicker. Trust me on this.
(I swear, I’ll get this HD video on youtube thing working next time…)

AX Live Picnic 2012: Gallery of QUACK!
I lost count how many times me and Deb made the space duck joke.
AX Live hosted a little get-together of cosplay event at Miles Regional Square Park in Fountain Valley (which was close to Deb’s area). What we encountered there were familiar faces, DOGGIES! and of course, lots of giveaways. I didn’t take a lot of pictures, but let’s just say I hope they hold this event again next year.
Q Pop Tokusatsu 2012: Gallery of RAAAAWWWRR!!
Right after Comikaze, me and Deb headed out to Little Tokyo for some dinner (with Cat & Harris. Hey Deb, do we call them Carris or Hat?). After a bowl of Shinsengumi ramen, we headed to Q Pop Tokusatsu Gallery event, where various artist showcased tokusatsu-related artworks.
Oh, and we had some toku cosplayers there
and guys from Toku Access
and pictures, lots of pictures.
Comikaze 2012: Gallery of EXCELSIOR!
Me and Deb went to Comikaze Expo 2012 for Saturday only, because we had things to do on Sunday. Still, we went, and were quite impressed with how big it was. Despite attending one day, I took decent amount of pictures while roaming around the convention.
